MS Board Series

Is a custom software communications protocol required with MS boards?
In order to interface to the MS boards, the host instrument must read and interpret the serial communications protocol. Although this protocol is specific to Masimo’s boards, it is a digital serial communications protocol and, to date, our partner companies have found it very straightforward to implement with a minimal amount of software and/or engineering time.
To what extent have EMC design considerations been employed in MS boards?
The MS boards have been designed to comply with the International Electromagnetic Compliance Directive. To that end, signals with high frequency content have been routed to minimize loop lengths as much as possible. Ground planes have been laid out to maximize their effectiveness at shielding and curbing emission from the board. All signals that connect to the outside have been filtered to reduce their emissions and susceptibility.
These design features are no guarantee of compliance and, furthermore, the system that the board is installed in plays the major role in meeting the directive. However, Masimo has made a concentrated effort to try to make sure the board is not a limiting factor. The MS boards have been successfully installed in multiple end-customer instruments with these instruments meeting the required level of EMC performance to achieve all applicable regulatory requirements including CE marking.
What other assistance or support can Masimo provide?
Masimo has developed a complete set of software and hardware tools aimed at simplifying the integration and validation of the MS boards in a "Host Instrument". To date, our experience with multiple partner companies and their associated host instruments has been very positive, and we continue to refine our technology deployment process based on feedback from our partner companies.

MX Board Series
Masimo's breakthrough noninvasive monitoring technologies can be easily integrated into a wide range of multiparameter and multiuse monitoring devices with our family of MX and MS 2000 series circuit boards.
MX boards—when used with Masimo Rainbow multiple wavelength (7+) LED sensors—are capable of providing the full suite of Masimo Rainbow SET measurements, including Total Hemoglobin (SpHb), Oxygen Content (SpOC), Carboxyhemoglobin (SpCO), Methemoglobin (SpMet) and PVI in addition to the Masimo SET measure-through motion and low perfusion pulse oximetry measurements of SpO2, pulse rate and perfusion index.
MS 2000 series boards—when used with any one of a broad array of Masimo SET compatible sensors—provide Masimo SET measure-through motion and low perfusion pulse oximetry measurements of SpO2, pulse rate and perfusion index in addition to PVI.
